AFC announced the ACL quarterfinals bracket on the 23rd (Korean time).
In the East Asia region, two teams from Korea and one team each from China and Japan advanced to the quarterfinals.
K League 1 Jeonbuk Hyundai and Ulsan HD will play the ‘Hyundai vs. Derby’.
Ulsan, who announced the change of the club name to ‘Ulsan HD FC’,
will use the previous name ‘Ulsan Hyundai’ in this ACL.
Jeonbuk defeated Pohang 3-1 in the first and second games,
and Ulsan advanced to the round of 16 with a 5-1 total victory over Banforet Kofu (Japan).
The quarterfinals will also be played in a home-and-away format,
with Jeonbuk and Ulsan playing the first game on the 6th of next month at Jeonju World Cup Stadium,
Jeonbuk’s home, and then moving to Ulsan Munsu Stadium on the 13th for the second game.
Al-Nasr
Shandong Taishan (China), led by coach Choi Kang-hee,
has advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time in eight years since 2016 and will compete with Japan’s Yokohama Marinos for a place in the semifinals.
In the West Asia region, three clubs from the Saudi Arabian League and Al Ain from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) advanced to the quarterfinals.
First, Al-Ain, played by national team midfielder Park Yong-woo, will face off against Al-Nasr (Saudi Arabia), featuring world-class soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Also, Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia), consisting of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho, etc.,
