Shohei Ohtani, the biggest free agent signing in Major League Baseball (MLB), will have a big impact on his future.
On Monday, ESPN took a look at how his signing could affect other free agents.
The two-handed MLB superstar has drawn interest from several teams, including the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and Toronto Blue Jays, in addition to his original club. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts even admitted to meeting with Ohtani on June 6.
ESPN reported that if Ohtani signs with the Angels, Toronto is expected to pursue Lee. MLB teams are also interested in Lee. The New York Yankees, 안전놀이터 San Diego Padres, New York Mets, and San Francisco are among the favorites.
According to ESPN, “Interest in Lee is growing in the market. MLB teams believe he could get a deal that surpasses the five-year, $90 million deal Masataka Yoshida signed with the Boston Red Sox last year,” according to ESPN.
“The right fit for Toronto is the unquestioned center fielder Lee Jung-hoo.
With his ability to get on base, he could join a lineup that includes Bo Bissett and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. “If Toronto adds Lee, they’ll be a stronger team than they are now,” he said.
ESPN also predicted that the Cubs could be a destination for Lee. “Bringing in outfielder Cody Bellinger seemed to be the first scenario, but third baseman Matt Chapman could be a better fit for the Cubs’ lineup,” the outlet wrote. “There are other outfield options, including Michael A. Taylor, Adam Duvall, Kevin Kiermaier, and Harrison Bader, but Lee seems to be a better fit.”
