
The Yeoncheon Miracle, an independent baseball team, has produced its second professional player this year. Right-handed pitcher Park Sion (25) is the latest.
The Yeoncheon Miracle announced on Wednesday that Park signed a developmental player contract with the KIA Tigers and entered the KBO League. This marks the second time this year that the Miracle has made it to the professional ranks, following right-handed pitcher Lee Hyun-min’s signing with KT Wiz in April. The Yeoncheon Miracle, which was founded in 2015, has produced a total of 11 professional players, including two this year.
Park Sion, a right-handed orthodox pitcher from Dongsan High School and Dankook University, led Dankook to the national college championship and won the best pitcher award in college. However, he was not selected in the KBO rookie draft and his career was marred by a series of injuries. Park’s entry into the KIA is the sixth player from the Gyeonggi-do Independent Baseball League to enter the professional league this season, proving that the Gyeonggi-do Independent Baseball League is fulfilling its role as the only independent baseball league in Korea. Several former Yeoncheon Miracle players are playing in the KBO this year, including infielder Hwang Young-mook (Hanwha), outfielder Son Ho-young (Lotte), and outfielder Park Young-bin (NC).
The Miracle is currently accepting recruitment for the second half of the 2024 season, and more information can be found on their official website.
