For the second consecutive season, “Volleyball King” Kim Yeon-kyung (Heungkuk Life) was honored as the top vote-getter in the V-League All-Star Game.
The Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO) announced on Wednesday the 40 players who will participate in the 2023-2024 V-League All-Star Game and the results of the fan vote.
Kim received 39,813 votes in the week-long online fan poll, which began on May 5, making her the top vote-getter in both the men’s and women’s categories.
This is the third most votes in her career, following the 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 seasons.
On the men’s side, Shin Young-seok (KEPCO) was the top vote-getter for the fourth consecutive season with 29,031 votes.
Yang Hyo-jin (Hyundai E&C) made his 15th career All-Star appearance, tying him with Kim Hae-ran (Heungkuk Life) for the most All-Star starts.
Han, playing in his 13th All-Star Game, also tied Yeo Oh-hyun (Hyundai Capital) for the most appearances in the men’s game.
Veteran Pyo Seung-ju (IBK) is making his first All-Star appearance in 14 seasons, while last season’s men’s rookie of the year, Kim Jun-woo (Samsung Fire), is also making his first All-Star appearance.
Among the Asian quota players introduced this season are Bayarsaihan Bassu (OK Financial Group), Ryohei Iga (KEPCO), Ponpun Gedpard (IBK), and Megawatti Puttiwi (Jungkwanjang).
The All-Star Game will be held on January 27 at Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon.
Meanwhile, KOVO said, “We have identified some cases of fraudulent voting, such as the use of duplicate accounts, fraudulent registration accounts, and macro programs, which were excluded when calculating the final voting results.”
In fact, the total number of votes cast this time was 58,117, which is significantly lower than the number of votes cast in the 2021-2022 season (169,519), when voting was conducted in the same way.
It is also analyzed that the poor international performance, including the team’s quarterfinal exit at the Hangzhou Asian Games, may have contributed to the low box office. 스포츠토토사이트
